we are going to Africa

Dear Family & Friends:

We are very excited to announce that we are going to Africa! We have been praying for God's heart for the nations and have felt led specifically to the countries of Uganda and Zimbabwe.

Our outreach team will consist of 8 adults and 5 children (ages 4 - 16). This letter is to invite you to help us share God's work and help the people in need in Africa.

First let us answer a few obvious questions:

1) Why Zimbabwe and Uganda?

There is a huge need. God has put a burden in our hearts for the African people, especially the children who suffer from injustice.

2) What are you doing there?

We will be serving the people there in any way that is needed but mostly the children. It seems each member of our 13 member team has a heart for working with kids, especially AIDS orphans. We are excited to see how God wants to use us!

3) Why are you doing this?

The main reason: there is a need. People there do not know God. They need help in ways that we in America cannot fathom. We are praying God will give us direction in how we can best help and love them.

It will cost us about $20,000 to bring our family there. The two ways that you can help are by prayer and financial support. Please do not feel obligated to give. We wanted to share our opportunity with you. If you feel awkward in receiving this message, then imagine how awkward we feel in sending it. It’s a very humbling thing for us. We have always been very self-sufficient and proud of how God has blessed us, but now it is time for us to let God take care of things and supply our needs. If you would like to give financially the simplest way is to send a check to us here in Kona. Make it out to “University of Nations” and send to:

We have a deadline of paying all finances by August 11.

If you would like to help prayerfully:

Pray for health & safety. Pray for wisdom. Pray that we do God's will. Pray that the people we meet are receptive. Pray that our team is unified and productive. Pray that, through the love of our Lord Jesus, we will be able to bring joy to the suffering and hope to the hopeless. Pray for all those suffering from AIDS, especially the children. Pray for the governments of Uganda & Zimbabwe, there is some crazy stuff going on there.

Thank you so much for your help and prayers! Love & blessings to you all.

~Dave, Ruth, Jessika, & Jonathan Diepersloot

"For I was in need of food, and you gave it to me: I was in need of drink, and you gave it to me: I was wandering, and you took me in; I had no clothing, and you gave it to me: when I was ill, or in prison, you came to me. And the King will make answer and say to them, Truly I say to you, Because you did it to the least of these my brothers, you did it to me. " (Matthew 25:35-36,40)
