Day 44– Aug 12, 2005, Friday: Worship our Provider!
The pictures are of the pizza party we had tonite. the kids got to play in an outrigger the whole time which kept them nice and busy.
This morning we worshipped God as a class for at least an hour, maybe more. It was awesome. There was so much praise and adoration for providing all of our financial needs the day before. There were some people that didn’t have a penny when they came here. They just knew that God wanted them here. There were other people who had no one that they could ask. But God provided. We actually started singing and dancing so loud that we got reprimanded by some of the other classes. I thought that was a bit ironic. It reminded me of when Jesus said “ I say to you, if these men keep quiet, the very stones will be crying out. “
After Worship John Goodfellow came to talk. He had about 2 hours of class time to tell more stories and he just said (in his English accent) “well, I’ve got nothin’ left… what do you want me to talk about?” Not many people go into a two hour lecture with no plans. It turned out great though. We asked a few questions and he told us a lot about his preparation for a day out with the dregs of society. He explained that you don’t just go out there and start preaching. You start on your knees, praying. It’s all useless if you don’t prepare and know why you’re there. He also told some more great stories. Someone needs to take a biography of this guys life. He’s got some crazy stuff.
We also found out today that we will be going north to a church in Kahala next week for our mini outreach. I think we will be painting and working with the Youth group. I can’t wait.
Tonight we went out to pizza with 24 people to celebrate. We had a great time. We went to Kona Brewing Co. They have real brewed root beer there as well as real ginger ale. It was really good. Hmmmm pizza. I’m realizing that I talk about food a lot. I must be hungry when I type these.
