Day 40– Aug 8, 2005, Monday: Starting the week
Once again we began the week in the Ohana court with worship for the whole campus. It’s a great way to start the week.
We then went off to our lecture with a new speaker; John Goodfellow (shown here). He started off by claiming that he was a story teller and that if anyone wanted to call it a lecture that he would have to sleep through it. This is story time. He actually told everyone to get off their chairs and find a comfy spot and even bring in a pillow to cozy up and listen to his stories. He is an Englishman who did a DTS class like ours about 20 years ago and since then has had a crazy life of speaking to others about Christ. Most of his work has been in places like the Red Light District in Amsterdam.
I’ll give you one story. One night he felt God telling him to go to Lusaka. He had never heard of Lusaka. God also told him to get a backpack and get in shape because he’ll need it in Lusaka. So, he bought a back pack and started hiking the streets in Amsterdam daily. Two weeks later he was called by someone to come speak in Lusaka (It is somewhere near Zimbabwe). So he went, and he was ready. While there he was thrown in jail for a day or so and took that opportunity to tell all of the prison guards about Jesus. Then they let him out and he started telling people in town about Jesus. He had an amazing time there talking with the people and leading many to Christ.
