Day 36– Aug 4, 2005, Thursday: a day to Fast
Here are pictures of the Ohana court as well as some of the prayer art from the day.
what do you think about the hand? It sort of grabs me.
I wasn’t exactly looking forward to today… no food, praying from 8:00 til noon. I’ve never fasted before, but I like food. I was pleasantly surprised. Normally I can’t get going without some breakfast. It’s my main meal, gets me jump started. The hardest part was feeding the kids, because they just had a normal day (it’s a bit difficult explaining to a four year old about fasting). Then we all went to the Ohana court for some worship and prayer. The coolest part was the praying. First, this guy got up and told us how YWAM has split the world up into 4000 zones called Omega zones. Each zone consists of less than 10 million people. The idea is to bring the word of God to every zone, and just looking at a country is too big. So they made maps of all of the areas that we are going to go to in the next few months (Africa, Brazil, China, SE Asia). The maps showed every Omega zone for all these places. Then they told us all to pray for specific Omega zones individually. As we prayed for the zone, they brought out clay and markers and paint and paper and let us decorate our zone however we wanted. It was very cool to pray, but the best part was watching how people decorated their zones. It was a way of worship through art that I had never seen. It also made the time fly by, it was noon before I realized it. I prayed for several places in China, Brazil, Cambodia and Africa. I can’t remember their names because I could barely pronounce most of them.
That afternoon we skipped the mowing and I took a nap. Ahhh that was nice. I also finished my book (finally) I know that you were all worried about that. It’s due tomorrow. I am not used to having things due, usually I would just tell my boss “uhhh, Brian made me late” or “I was too busy playing foosball”.
I really liked this one. Especially after I tried to mold some clay. I could barely get mine to look like ANYTHING, this is really good.
